Drinking and Driving is OK on a Vineyard Tour

The Familia Zuccardi Vineyard in Maipu, Argentina is huge. It is not like many of the smaller, intimate vineyards crowding the Mendoza area.

It is too big to walk around in the hot sun, to properly see the different varieties of grapes. So, they provide bicycles to vineyard visitors, for a quick and breezy way to move around the enormous property. The wide roads are tamped down with crushed stone, making it easy to travel and lots of room for swerving, if that happens.

We took a bicycle tour of the vineyard, organized by Uncorking Argentina. It was a delightful couple of hours of education, tasting under the sun-dappled vines, and riding from section to section to three different areas of the vineyard.

The tour ends up at their new olive oil processing room and restaurant, Pan & Oliva; for olive oil tasting and lunch. Yes, the oil and the lunch were delicious. And yes, so was the wine.
